Common Conditions

comm_cond.jpgThere are many Common Conditions that can affect your health. When these problems are new to you or you are worried about your health, going to your doctor is generally the right thing to do. This is particularly true if you have other health problems or the person who is unwell is a child or an elderly person.

At other times, you might have a good idea of what the problem is and you might decide to go straight to the local pharmacy for advice and to see whether there is a treatment available directly from the pharmacy.

Finding Your Way Around Common Conditions Topics

<<<< Common Conditions categories and topics are listed on the left  - they provide brief descriptions of many of the health problems that people turn to their pharmacist for help with. The information is only a general summary and the pharmacist will be able to give you more personalised advice for your particular situation. Each topic has been organised to make it easy to get the information you need.

  • General Information
  • See your Pharmacist or Medical Professional
  • Treatment Tips
  • Treatment Options
  • More Information

The Common Conditions topics also include examples of the more frequently used medicines and products for these conditions – but these are examples only, and other products may also be available. Where the products have particular active ingredients, these are also listed, to give you an idea of which products contain what.

The Common Conditions topics do not usually include information on treatments available only on a doctor’s prescription – in some cases, prescription medicines might be a better option for you, but your pharmacist can advise you when you would be better to see your doctor.

Finally, more detailed information on many of the products mentioned in the Common Conditions topics can be found on PharmacyLive, in the Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medicines and Products Guide.
